Summer Adventure Camp Celebrates another Summer of Fun!

Deer Valley’s Summer Adventure Camp provides summer fun for children two months to 12 years of age. Summer Adventure Camp offers challenging activities focused on engaging camper’s interest while ensuring campers have fun while learning.

The Adventure Camp is based out of the Children’s Center in Deer Valley’s Snow Park Lodge. The state-licensed Children’s Center provides individual “home base” areas for each age group. The center has built-nooks for entertainment and performances, a rock climbing wall, a wide variety of craft projects, puzzles, games, books, and video to complement the numerous outdoor activities. The counselor student ration is one to seven for older children, one to four for toddlers, and one to three for infants. The Children’s Center is a nut free environment.

Summer Adventure Camp – Operating Hours & Rates

Summer Adventure Camp will begin June 7, and runs through August 20, 2010.
(No camp on Monday, July 5, or Friday, July 23, 2010)

Camp Hours: 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Full-day Organized Activities: 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Half-day Organized Activities: 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (for Grasshoppers, Ramblers and Trekkers only)

Sunflowers

Children 2 through 11 months

• State-licensed child care for infants
• Play time and quiet time

Seasonal Full-day Rate: $2,426
(Daily, weekly and half-day rates are not available.)

Grasshoppers

Children 1 year old

• Special care taken with your little ones

Children ages 3 through 4 years old (Child must be potty trained to participate in off-site activities)

Campers need to bring a sack lunch and a water bottle daily. Healthy, nutritious sack lunch available for a nominal fee. Field trip and swimming fees are not included in above prices. Field trip fees range from $15 to $25. Swimming fees are $6.

For safety reasons and to ensure quality programming, the age requirement will be strictly observed. Deer Valley’s Children’s Center is a nut free environment.

Due to the increasing popularity of this program, we often reach camper capacity. Advanced reservations are essential. Cancellations for Monday or Tuesday must be made on Friday by 5 p.m. as we are closed on Saturday and Sunday; otherwise, a cancellation fee of $25 will be charged.

Deer Valley Celebrity SkiFest 2009

The Celebrity SkiFest is an invitational event pairing former Olympic ski legends with film and television celebrities for a weekend of skiing, live music, and fundraising for the environmental group Waterkeeper Alliance, which supports and empowers Waterkeeper member organizations to protect communities, ecosystems and water quality.

The Deer Valley Celebrity SkiFest includes dual giant slalom races on both Saturday and Sunday of opening weekend on Birdseye ski run. Spectators area able to watch the event from viewing areas located just outside of the Silver Lake Lodge at mid-mountain. The competition will be televised by CBS on Sunday, December 20, 2009 at 5:00PM (EST) following the NFL.

U.S. skiing legends in attendance included Steve Mahre, Phil Mahre, Tommy Moe, and Heidi Voelker. Celebrities in attendance were Neil Patrick Harris, Alyson Hannigan, Larry David, Cheryl Hines, Cheryl Tiegs, Bobby Kennedy Jr., Max Kennedy, Chris Kennedy, Gloria Rueben, Rob Morrow, Dylan Bruno, and David Conrad.

Youth Bike Camp - Deer Valley Resort

Deer Valley Resort’s Mountain Bike Camp is a great way to introduce and improve biking skills specific to free-ride gravity-style riding for youth 10 to 15 years of age.  Established in 1992, Deer Valley’s mountain bike school is one of the most seasoned in the United States and the 1 to 5 staff-to-camper ratio promotes and encourages personal instruction from expert riders.  At the conclusion of the camp, participants will receive a video analysis/DVD of their skills and progress.  Campers will be trained in bike maintenance, component adjustments, proper trail etiquette and safety.

The camp costs $168 for two days and includes camp, lunches and lift tickets.  Intermediate ability or above with single-track experience is required.  Camp will be held Saturday and Sunday, July 11-12, from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Bike rentals are not included in the preset price but are available at a 20% discount off the regular season rate.

Robert Earl Keen - Deer Valley

The St. Regis Big Stars, Bright Nights Outdoor Concert Series at Deer Valley Resort announced its 2009 summer line up.  Among the artists is Texas born Robert Earl Keen!  Robert Earl Keen will perform on September 7, 2009 with opening performances by John Doe and Jill Sobule.  For those less familiar with the well known singer songwriter, Robert Earl Keen is a humorous storytelling musician with a diehard following around the country.  His style of music is often classified as Americana or Texas Country.  Some fan favorites include “The Road Goes on Forever” and “I’m Comin Home”.  Many a family in Texas, and often intoxicated college students, recites his very popular “Merry Christmas from the Family” around Christmas time to get in the spirit, which highlights small town Texas culture.  Keen performs mostly in Texas, but is no stranger to Park City.  He has made a regular summer appearance at venues on Park City Main Street for the past few years. Proceeds from the Robert Earl Keen show will be used to support the student outreach program which provides free “arts in education” opportunities.

Park City, UT – The Easter Bunny plans to rip some turns at Deer Valley Resort on April 12, 2009.  Apparently the resort plans to close on the same day but we have no reason to believe the closing is related to the visit.  The Easter Bunny will make an appearance for the paparazzi at the Snow Park Lodge from 9 am – 11:00am.

According to Deer Valley, they will re-open daily on June 19^th through Labor Day, and then on weekends through September 13 (conditions permitting).  The resort offers over 55 miles of lift-served mountain biking and hiking in addition to scenic chairlift rides. The Deer Valley Concert series is also set to kick off shortly after the re-opening. There is no word yet as to whether the Easter Bunny plans on returning this summer.
