Deer Valley Resort in Park City, Utah opened for the 2009/2010 ski season on Saturday, December 5, 2009. The #1 ski resort in the North America added to the opening day excitement by hosting the annual Deer Valley Celebrity SkiFest on December 5th and 6th.

The Celebrity SkiFest is an invitational event pairing former Olympic ski legends with film and television celebrities for a weekend of skiing, live music, and fundraising for the environmental group Waterkeeper Alliance, which supports and empowers Waterkeeper member organizations to protect communities, ecosystems and water quality.

The Deer Valley Celebrity SkiFest includes dual giant slalom races on both Saturday and Sunday of opening weekend on Birdseye ski run. Spectators area able to watch the event from viewing areas located just outside of the Silver Lake Lodge at mid-mountain. The competition will be televised by CBS on Sunday, December 20, 2009 at 5:00PM (EST) following the NFL.

U.S. skiing legends in attendance included Steve Mahre, Phil Mahre, Tommy Moe, and Heidi Voelker. Celebrities in attendance were Neil Patrick Harris, Alyson Hannigan, Larry David, Cheryl Hines, Cheryl Tiegs, Bobby Kennedy Jr., Max Kennedy, Chris Kennedy, Gloria Rueben, Rob Morrow, Dylan Bruno, and David Conrad.
